Roblox · Mid-level
Prepare for the Roblox Software Engineer interview with 4 practice rounds and what each one looks for. Pick any round and an AI interviewer runs it with you at full length, with follow-up questions. Afterwards you’ll see what went well and what to work on next.
Your first 60 minutes of practice are free. No card needed.
Next: your first full round
One full practice round shows where you stand before you work on anything specific.
Pick a round to see what it asks of you and where you stand on it.
See whether you can solve hard algorithm problems and optimization tasks on your own, under time pressure, when the instructions aren't fully clear.
Asks for a faster approach after a working but slow solution.
Roblox doesn't publish its software engineer interview process. Guides and candidate reports describe an online assessment that mixes coding problems with Roblox-hosted strategy games, then one or two 45-minute coding interviews, behavioral interviews, and a hiring manager chat. One 2025 report pairs an algorithm interview with an object-oriented design interview. Guides list system design for experienced candidates, but no report confirms how a mid-level loop handles it, and the round count and order still vary.
Worth redoing if you hear something from the recruiter that contradicts this.
Every round you’ve done for this job, newest first.
Online assessment: coding and games, Technical interview: algorithms, Technical interview: object-oriented design, and Behavioral and hiring manager interviews have no attempts yet.
Before you practice, write a plan. Give each task a time limit. Decide when you will leave a stuck task. Decide how you will save a partial solution first. Pick two hard problems on graphs, matrices or dynamic programming to try.
Candidates describe an assessment that mixes coding problems with Roblox-hosted games. A plan to move on and return keeps one task from using all your time.

Write a short routine for a game with vague rules. Read the sample cases. Write the rule you infer in one sentence. State your assumption. Name a simple strategy. Then name one change that could improve it, such as a greedy or dynamic programming step.
One candidate says the game instructions were unclear. One November 2025 report describes games that needed optimization, such as making the most money from a factory.

Write a three-step check on one note card. First, trace one small input by hand. Second, test one edge case. Third, state the time complexity for large inputs. Use it on every solution.
A hand check finds defects. A complexity check shows if your approach works for large inputs.
Suggested approach
You have a written time plan, a routine for unclear rules, and a check card. You have also chosen two hard problems to try.
Chapter 3 "Dynamic Programming" and Chapter 2 "Backtracking". The book is free. It gives no exercise solutions.
Practice how to define a recursive solution and turn it into dynamic programming. Then apply it to one of your chosen problems.
Your first practice round takes 60 minutes.

Which stages does the software engineer loop for this team include, and in what order?
How long is the online assessment, and can I spread it over a few days?
What are the game tasks in the assessment looking for?
Will the onsite include object-oriented design, system design, or both?
Which level is this role, and how is level decided?
How does the team measure success for a new engineer in the first six months?
