Recommended next: your first attempt
A complete first attempt shows where you stand before any narrow practice starts.
Pick a round to see what it asks of you and where you stand on it.
Demonstrate end-to-end content-design judgment through a real product journey and its outcomes.
What changed outside the copy?
Which result remained ambiguous?
Choose one product journey with a clear user problem, language decision and measurable or observed consequence. Gather the relevant screens, content states, research findings and outcome evidence.
Adjacent candidates report portfolio walkthroughs, but no current Netflix source confirms this loop. One complete case best supports a 40-minute review.
Netflix has used the Content Designer title and publicly discussed product language and experimentation, but current role-specific hiring evidence is sparse. The loop below is therefore a transparent representative practice model: portfolio depth, an evaluated writing exercise, cross-functional content judgment and culture. It does not claim a fixed Netflix sequence. Prepare concise language systems, explain experimentation limits, and revise confidently under candid critique.
Worth redoing if you hear something from the recruiter that contradicts this.

Outline the case in five parts: user problem, options considered, chosen language, interaction context and result. Mark your contribution separately from team decisions and identify one discarded direction.
The round requires content judgment and influence, not a screen tour. Clear ownership also reduces the risk of overstating team or experiment results.
Suggested approach
For each outcome, label it as qualitative evidence, behavioral evidence or informed interpretation. Prepare one sentence on what the evidence cannot prove, then briefly read the critical copy in its full flow.
A portfolio story should separate measured results from inference. Naming a leading signal and its limitations lets you discuss impact honestly when direct attribution is unavailable.
Suggested approach
You have selected one case, assembled its flow and evidence, marked your ownership, and written the rejected language direction with its reason.
Focus on “Conversational prototyping,” “Narrative PRDs,” and “Character-driven storyboards.” Medium may show a sign-in or reading limit.
Use the ideas to structure the case around content, user needs and interaction before final screens.
Focus on “Content prototypes,” the AECF redesign discussion, and testing language with real users. The article is older.
Use it to explain how language exposed structure, supported stakeholders and informed evidence-based decisions.
A first attempt takes the full 40 minutes.
Questions that close the gaps above.
What work sample and format will be evaluated?
Which member or internal product surface owns the role?
Will the loop include live writing, prepared work or portfolio discussion only?
